October 18-19, the XII International Ecological Forum "Nature without Borders" was held in Vladivostok

 On October 18-19, 2018, at the initiative of the Administration of Primorsky Krai, the XII International Ecological Forum "Nature without Borders" was held in Vladivostok.

The venue for the International Ecological Forum "Nature without Borders" in Vladivostok was not accidental. Vladivostok is the center of international cooperation of the Russian Federation in the Asia-Pacific region, and this year the conference hall of the Primorsky Territory Administration was chosen as the main venue for the forum.
 
The unique geographical location of the region attaches great importance to discussing cross-border cooperation and interaction with neighboring countries, and as reported in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Primorsky Territory, this year experts from different countries discussed topical issues at forum events.
 
This year more than 500 people participated in the International Ecological Forum "Nature without Borders", including foreign guests.
 
Thus, the water users of the Amur Basin District discussed the rationing of the permissible impact on water bodies, the improvement of reclamation systems, dredging and hydrotechnical work in the waters of seaports, the prospects for the development of international initiatives when using transboundary water bodies.
 
Regarding the development of the system of specially protected natural territories and the formation of the ecological culture of the population through volunteer movement, the issues of protection of rare and endangered species of animals and plants, the development of ecological tourism, the prospects of the volunteer movement aimed at protecting the environment were raised.
 
One of the important topics was the reform and development of the waste management system and secondary resources, in which experts discussed government regulation in the field of waste management, consideration of federal projects in the field of waste management within the framework of the national project “Ecology”, the role of regional operators in implementation of the waste management system reform in Russia. The experts also discussed the development of processing technologies, recycling, neutralization, recycling of waste, the strategy for the development of the industry for recycling waste and the elimination of accumulated environmental damage.
One of the most important topics was the discussion of new trends in state regulation of environmental protection and environmental safety, including a risk-based approach in environmental supervision, the development of public environmental monitoring, new drivers to encourage the introduction of environmentally innovative, best available technologies.
 
Another of the most important issues of the forum was the discussion by experts of the biodiversity of animals, plants and microorganisms, the preservation and formation of ecosystem biodiversity in the context of climate change.
 
The following organizations participated in the fields of the XII International Environmental Forum: the Association of organizations, operators and experts in the field of waste management “Clean Country”, the Russian National Committee for the Promotion of the United Nations Environment Program (NP “UNEPKOM”), the Committee on Ecology and Environment, Pacific Institute of Geography, Far East Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Amur Branch of WWF Russia, FGBU Zem Leopard, Philip Morris Sales and Marketing LLC, Water Users Union of Amur Basin District, PJSC RusHydro, Far Eastern FSUE “Rosmorport” basin branch, JSC “DNIIMF”, Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port PJSC, Russian Research Institute for Integrated Use and Protection of Water Resources, FEFU, Botanical Garden-Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
 
During the twelve-year history of the Forum, thousands of specialists, scientists, representatives of business, government, and public organizations took part in its work. Under the auspices of the Forum, there is a constructive dialogue on environmental protection, discussing important issues of waste treatment, reducing environmental risks in industry.
 
The exposition of the forum featured thematic banners, an exhibition of children's drawings on environmental topics, as well as the Biblioteka Library. Gorky presented books relevant to the forum. In addition, the exposition of the Bikin National Park was presented.
 
Welcoming speech to the participants of the XII International Ecological Forum "Nature without Borders" was made by Interim Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako.
 
Today, when Vladivostok, Primorye and the entire Far East are priority territories for the whole country, when the economy is developing rapidly, large-scale investment projects are being implemented, we must not forget about preserving the unique natural wealth of this land!
